Interstate Construction Project

Safety

Safety is the top priority for the I-75 On The Move (I-75OTM) project. Crews working to build a better I-75 follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration and Florida Department of Transportation safety standards. Drivers, too, are just as responsible for safety in the work zone as the construction crews.

Moving your damaged vehicle off of the roadway helps clear accidents quickly, reduce congestion and improve safety. Learn more about the MOVE IT actions required by Florida law.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) urge motorists to help protect the people who protect you - please move over and let emergency workers do their jobs without risk of injury or worse. Learn more about Florida's MOVE OVER law.

Here are some facts about work zone crashes in Florida that may surprise you:
  • More than 90% of people who die in work zone crashes are motorists and pedestrians.
  • More than half of the fatal crashes in work zones occur after dark.
  • Nearly one quarter of fatal crashes in work zones are influenced by alcohol and drugs.
  • More than 50% of all work zone crashes happen because of speeding.

Every time you drive I-75, you become a part of the I-75OTM Team. Please do your part to make this project a safe one. Always wear safety belts, adjust your speed, and don’t tailgate. Pay attention and make good driving decisions. Courtesy and caution go a long way toward safety.
