Project Features

Construction activities began in May 2010 along a 9.4 mile stretch of I-75 from north of River Road to north of State Road 681 in Sarasota County, Florida. Construction work is estimated to be complete by the summer of 2012. To view a copy of the Project Fact Sheet click here.

Following is a list of the improvements included in this project:

• Widening of I-75 from north of River Road to north of SR 681 from four to six lanes

• Realignment of I-75 southbound lanes from north of Cow Pen Slough to Laurel Road

• Construction of new southbound bridges over Cow Pen Slough and Salt Creek and widening of bridges over Curry Creek and Fox Creek

• Widening of Laurel Road, Jacaranda Boulevard and River Road to accommodate ramp turning movements and improve traffic flow

• Construction of 19 ponds to meet water quality requirements
