
Construction activities began in May 2010 along a 9.4 mile stretch of I-75 from north of River Road to north of State Road 681 in Sarasota County, Florida. Construction work is estimated to be complete by the summer of 2012. To view a copy of the Project Fact Sheet click here.
Following is a list of the improvements included in this project:
Widening of I-75 from north of River Road to north of SR 681 from four to six lanes
Realignment of I-75 southbound lanes from north of Cow Pen Slough to Laurel Road
Construction of new southbound bridges over Cow Pen Slough and Salt Creek and widening of bridges over Curry Creek and Fox Creek
Widening of Laurel Road, Jacaranda Boulevard and River Road to accommodate ramp turning movements and improve traffic flow
Construction of 19 ponds to meet water quality requirements
